Sergio Borja

Profile

Sergio Borja (Serge) is of Filipino nationality and the youngest among 12 children born in the Philippines' Northern parts known as the Pampanga Province. In 2001, he moved to Manila to commence his 5-year Bachelor's degree in Interior Design.

In 2006 he completed his Bachelor of Science of Interior Design studies and graduated with his honors with a diploma. To gain work experience across the industry during his studies, Serge worked as a freelance designer with many large design firms in the Philippines, working on serval different interior, furniture, landscape, graphic designs from concept to creation.

Outside of his design projects, he used his skills across different Retail brands creating appealing visual merchandising concepts and designs in line with brand guidelines and visual language, including events.

After graduating, he continued his freelance design with businesses and customers who employed him during his studies and established new customers after completing the Interior Design Licensing board exam in the Philippines.

In 2010, he saw an opportunity to work internationally. He moved to Dubai to work for an Italian furniture and accessories company as an in-house designer responsible for seasonal design concepts, colours, textures, finishes, designs, and range of execution for (3) three years, before joining one of the most abundant United Arab Emirates (UAE) leading importers, exporters in retail furniture across the Gulf region.

During his time in Dubai, as an outside hobby, Serge was the lead photographer at several fashions, wedding, family, personal, product, and company events and the creator and curator of his painting exhibitions as a passionate artist creating unique designs and custom paintings for sale across the world.

Based in Melbourne, now an Australian Citizen, Serge has continued expanding on his international skills by completing his Master of Design at the Swinburne University of Technology in 2018.
